Stove top cleaning and repairs

Most stove top parts can be replaced, ranging from drip pans, to burners and switches.

Avoid using aluminum foil under an electric burner as it can reflect too much and overheat part of the unit. Also, pieces of the aluminum foil can flake off and cause a short circuit where the wires attach to the burner.

It used to be that you had to go to an appliance dealer, or a used appliance store to find replacement parts for stoves. Now you can find most of these "universal" replacement parts in the renovation centres. If the "universal" parts won't work for you, I always find good material at the used appliance store. There you often have the choice between new and used parts.
