If you are tired of trying to put tape on the edge of Melamine boards, or can't avoid those surface chips that always show between the surface and tape, there is a new Melamine putty made to replace the tape. You put one or two coats on, flow it right over into those surface chips and sand it down smooth. It makes for a very nice complete finish, probably smoother than any tape you can apply. The only draw back is that it is not waterproof, so you must cover it with a clear or painted finish. In the third drawing the little part in the middle is sanded putty and looks pretty good. On one side we washed it with soap and water to show that it will crack if you allow it to get wet and on the opposite side we have painted it with Melamine paint to show how good it can look.

It comes from D&B Enterprises, France and for the moment is only available in Canada at Home Hardware stores.
