Removing a stain from plastic laminate counter top

One of our callers managed to create a bad stain in a plastic laminate counter top by leaving a strong cleaner in place while answering the telephone. I checked with the laminate manufacturers and they said that there was no way to get something like that out. Moral, don't answer the telephone if your have strong cleaners sitting on the counter top.

One way to get rid of the stain without replacing the entire counter top would be to cut out the stain and inlay a cutting board or ceramic tiles in the area. That will look like you did it on purpose as a utility area, and the stain will be gone.
