Oil Spill response

Oil spills in water can be a real problem -- ranging from oil in your swimming pool, to around a boat dock or serious spills from commercial vessels.  Old techniques try to contain the oil, but wave action can sabatoge that.  Dispersents have proved to cause more problems than they solve.  New technologies are being developed in British Colombia that could very well be the wave of the future:  Use chemical science to attract the oil and repel the water; Use chemistry and the UV light of the sun to bio-degrade the collected pollutants so that there is no toxic waste to dispose of.

Watch the video to understand the difference between traditional ADsorbents and new ABsorbents.  The first response to an oil spill can be the final response.
