Connecting the exhaust duct behind the clothes dryer can be an acrobatic endeavor. If you make the duct longer than necessary, it is easier to install, but tends to block the flow of air when it is all pushed behind the dryer. If you make it only as long as necessary, you will not be able to hook it up with the dryer pulled forward. Instead, you'll need to climb over the top of the dryer, hanging upside-down to screw the duct into place. Finally someone has come up with an invention to solve this problem.
Quick Connect is a plastic "gate" that allows you to attach the duct in the wall to a fixed socket on the wall. Then you attach the flexible duct to the gate that slides into the socket. There is a long handle on the gate which allows you to make the connection easily from over the top of the dryer and even a little piece of Velcro to keep the handle from falling behind the dryer. Finally you can have a short dryer duct even when you cannot get behind the dryer without pulling it completely forward. Even though it is not approved for gas dryers, I like the Quick Connect.
